Who we are

Welcome to Sweet Sabu’s, a family-owned home bakery in Harford County, Maryland. We specialize in delicious cookies, breads, and pastries that bring comfort, warmth, and a little sweetness to your everyday moments.

Our passion for baking comes from our mom who is known by loved ones as Karen Sabu. Karen worked professionally in the catering industry in Annapolis, MD for decades, and has always had a love for baking. She would often joke about starting her own business called Sweet Sabu’s.

Her love for baking naturally transferred to her children, Kyle and Kaitlin. When they all found themselves living in Harford County, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to make the dream of Sweet Sabu’s into a reality.

  • Karen Williams

    COFOUNDER

    Karen started as a self-taught home baker who then started working for a prominent catering company in Annapolis, MD. Karen catered for 30 years, with 4 years as the executive chef. She is now retired, though continues to bake in her home in Havre de Grace while also enjoying her role as “mumsie” to her two grandsons and the weekly rounds of golf.

  • Kyle Williams

    COFOUNDER

    Kyle started baking alongside Karen, and is known for his stunning and whimsical gingerbread houses every Christmas season. His skill set was refined as he managed a chocolate and candy company for several years. Though he now works as a literary agent and artist, he still enjoys a challenge in the kitchen with specialties in sourdough and laminated doughs.

  • Kaitlin Williams Eckstein

    COFOUNDER

    Kaitlin’s passion for baking developed after moving back home after college. With a masters of public health in nutrition, Kaitlin brings a knowledge of food science and food safety. Kaitlin loves her role as mom to her 2 young boys and makes time to bake in the midst of the chaos. Kaitlin enjoys making yeast breads and pastries.

Our Kitchen

All of our baked goods are prepared in compliance with Maryland Cottage Food Law. Our kitchen is pet-free and smoke-free to ensure a safe, clean environment for every product we make. Our kitchen processes common food allergens, including tree nuts, peanuts, milk, eggs, soy, and wheat.
